When Baby is indeed sick, it is the most stressful time. But we are still not as helpless as we might think. He will look to you to be his sustenance when he is weak, and it is your responsibility to be patient and calm and keep a good head on your shoulders to be making the right choices for his health.
Staying in touch with your pediatrician is crucial, and besides multiple visits to the practice, you may find yourself in the E.R if the symptoms progress into something serious.
This is perfectly normal, in most situations, and will put your mind at ease, having him in the care of professionals when you are anxious about his wellbeing.
Most young parents find themselves in the hospital, erring on the side of caution at least once during the first few months. Remember, even if you are panicked, your normal routine, the slow pace, the gentle dialogue, keeping within Baby’s eyeline whenever possible, even in the E.R.
Also, before you make the decision to head to the hospital, keep in mind that the nurses are obliged to hook Baby up to fluids intravenously, and run a plethora of sometimes invasive tests, so don’t rush into this unless you have good reason, to avoid unnecessary stress to your baby. Infant chiropracty is a wonderful alternative medicine before you involve the hospital. Obviously a good referral, particularly from your pediatrician is ideal, but one simple adjustment to your baby’ bones, joints and soft tissue can cure multiple symptoms.
Your baby was squished inside you for a long time while growing significantly, and then squeezed slowly through a small cavity during vaginal birth, many smaller and larger bones have been displaced and thus his entire nervous system is affected.
Sometimes the spine simply needs to be relieved of minor subluxation to revive the flow of energy in the body – a much less Eastern medical philosophy now and more mainstream in holistic and some Western medicine. There are many alternatives to pharmaceuticals, medical intervention and waiting for hours to be seen among sick patients in the E.R. with a susceptible infant.
Read, explore, discover how you can best care for your baby. Regardless of your healthcare preferences, once the symptoms abate, the relief is astonishing, and the monotony of your daily routine will seem like a blessing.
